Did I miss the memo or does EMAIL now stand for:
E – Electronic
M – Mail
A – Are
I – Ignored
L – Lots?
If this is the case, then I will stop this rant right now……..
Thought so.
When someone provides a question in an email, or has an action or follow up item, I respond back to it.
Plain and simple.
You have taken the time to seek me out for a reason, and I am obligated to reply. It may not be immediately, it may not be within the hour, but I promise you it will happen before the end of the day or first thing the next.
I believe this is proper business etiquette and I would expect the same reciprocation back.
Perhaps you don’t have time to get back to me immediately, and that is fine. With that being said, there should be a reasonable expectation that you get back to me within 24 hours. If that is not possible, just shoot me an email and let me know. No harm, no foul.
If that does not happen, we have a serious problem. We have a communication breakdown.
I would compare it to asking someone a question face to face and having them flat out ignore you. I would say 99.9% of us would never do this to anybody, so why is that any different in an email?
While an email may not be important to you, someone sent it for a reason, so it is important to them.
You should respect that with a response.
That is what a good leader does.

Well. Said. Nothing is more frustrating then waiting on a reply email for multiple days! Preach on…
